Meet the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir's dynamic Board of Directors!
Introducing inspirational board member Perika Sampson!
It's an absolute honor to introduce a true champion of diversity and inclusion, both in the workplace and throughout her community. Perika is a powerhouse in the world of DEI strategy, organizational development, and program management. With an extensive background in talent management, executive coaching, and philanthropy, she brings a wealth of expertise to our board.
We first had the privilege of working with Perika during her tenure at Morgan Stanley, where she served as Executive Director and Senior Regional Diversity Officer - West Coast for more than seven years. Her support for our initial OIGC @ the Office program demonstrated her creativity and community focus in her work leveraging diversity and inclusion as drivers of positive change.
Since joining our board, Perika has been an invaluable asset. Her insightful contributions and sharp ideas have played a pivotal role in guiding our organization through tumultuous times, steering us toward strategic success. Her wealth of experience, particularly in her current role as Global Head of Inclusion and Diversity at Gilead Sciences, brings a global perspective that enriches our approach to inclusivity.
During the development of our 5-year Strategic Plan, she provided several key insights; one of my favorites came when we coalesced around Terrance's theme of "World Domination by Choir!" While it is important to have lofty goals and big dreams, Perika helped lay the stepping stones for our success by reminding us to start with Oakland as the "center of the world" so we can build out from here, at home. This sort of keen perception has been a hallmark of Perika's input. Although she is busy with multiple work and volunteer commitments, she makes time to share insights and her commitment to the community and the arts a clear priority. OIGC couldn't be more grateful!
Perika's dedication to community engagement and strategic partnerships is evident in her work, and her background in business development and marketing adds a unique dimension to her contributions. Her impressive track record and commitment to creating inclusive environments make her an inspiring force in our journey toward positive change through music.
