Meet the Board: Terrance Kelly

While audiences know him as our musical leader, did you know Terrance Kelly is active in OIGC's governance and strategic leadership as well? He has served as an active ex-officio Member of our Board of Directors for many years.

Terrance is not just our musical inspiration, but a visionary who has carried the torch of what our organization can be since our founding nearly four decades ago. In arts organizations, it is sometimes said that we have "twins" - our Music and our Mission. Terrance has been the heartbeat of our organization, feeding, stewarding, and nurturing both with a steadfastness rarely seen. It's one of the qualities that will allow OIGC to grow long beyond his tenure.

Terrance's journey in gospel music is nothing short of remarkable. His passion for music and his dedication to fostering unity have been the guiding lights of our organization's success. Under his leadership, OIGC has grown into a powerful force for positive change in our community.

Beyond his musical talents, Terrance is a dedicated advocate for diversity and inclusion. He uses gospel music as a vehicle to educate, to bridge gaps, and bring people from all walks of life together. Terrance's impact extends far beyond our choirs: He has been a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to countless individuals, nurturing talent and fostering a sense of belonging among our members and our community.

Terrance is not just a musical visionary; he's a culture bearer and a true carrier of an essential American Folk Art tradition that enriches all of us. What sets Terrance apart beyond his musicianship is his remarkable spirit. I deeply respect Terrance for his humility and personal faith, which coexist harmoniously with his open and affirming attitude toward others from all walks of life. He is a beacon of inclusivity, welcoming people as they are. When he says 'All People,' he means ALL PEOPLE and his actions reflect this belief.

Terrance and I share a sincere friendship that I hold in the highest regard. I'm honored by his trust and inspired by his ability to blend work and friendship seamlessly. It's a rare privilege to have such a successful working relationship with someone who becomes a close personal friend. I couldn't ask for a better colleague and partner.

In our journey together, Terrance and I respect each other's lanes and celebrate each other's strengths. His wisdom and unwavering support have been instrumental in our choir's success - and in my ability to be successful in my role with OIGC. His legacy as a leader, mentor, and friend is a testament to the power of gospel music to unite and inspire.

Join us in celebrating Terrance Kelly's incredible legacy by following OIGC!
